"Simply Sweet"

Here is a scrapbook page I recently completed. In this picture Daniel is 5 months old. I used Basic Grey paper and element stickers from “Sugar Rush”. I used Tim Holtz grungeboard alphabet letters that I painted with an Adirondack Acrylic dabber in “Lettuce”. Basic Grey has some really great papers to scrapbook with. I recently found this book that is great to learn ideas for using patterned paper. I found a layout in the book that I used for inspiration as I designed this page. The name of the book is “Playing with Paper” by Angelia Wigginton.

The official start of summer!

It is the official start of summer (in case you couldn’t tell). It has been so hot this summer. I am SOOOO glad I am not pregnant this summer. Last year was one of the coolest summers while I was pregnant. My Daniel is getting very close to being a year old. I started this blog last summer while I was pregnant. Life has been a little busy since his birth. You could probably tell because I have not posted very often. I have been enjoying some time off this summer. It is so nice to be a teacher, and to get the time off during the summer, especially to spend with my little boy. I have been working on some different craft projects. I will be posting these projects for you, so be looking for them. Well it is time to go do some scrapbooking. Daniel is taking a nap, and I need to get busy scrapbooking all the pictures that have been taken in the last year. I hope all the dads out there had a great Father’s day!

Mom's birthday card

I completed my first Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge with challenge #61. I did not have my card completed by the deadline to post it for the challenge, but I did use the sketch for inspiration. My mother’s birthday was this past weekend and this is the card I made for her. Supplies include Stampin up stamp sets Whimsical words, and Happy moments. I used some Stampin up pink ribbon. I colored in the image with copic markers RV02, RV09, and RV23. The paper is Raspberry Tart from Stampin up.

February Birthday card

My sister’s birthday is in February. This is the card I sent to her for her birthday. I love Basic Grey’s line of papers. They have greeting card kits. This card was made with supplies from their Indian Summer kit.

Blackberry Cobbler

I have found a great cookbook for all you cooks out there. The title is "The pioneer woman cooks". So far I have made the Blackberry cobbler and the potato skins. Both recipes came out great. My family came over to visit yesterday, and I made the blackberry cobbler for them. There wasn't any left when we were finished. That is when you know the recipe is good. Drummond did a post about the cobbler on her website dated August 10, 2007. Her website is http://thepioneerwoman.com/ if you want to check it out. I have posted the recipe below also. The best part is it is easy to make.

Prep Time: 20 Minutes Cook Time: 1 Hour Difficulty: Easy Servings: 8

Ingredients
1 stick Butter
1-¼ cup Sugar
1 cup Self-Rising Flour
1 cup Milk
2 cups Blackberries (frozen Or Fresh)
Preparation Instructions
Melt butter in a microwavable dish. Pour 1 cup of sugar and flour into a mixing bowl, whisking in milk. Mix well. Then, pour in melted butter and whisk it all well together. Butter a baking dish.
Now rinse and pat dry the blackberries. Pour the batter into the buttered baking dish. Sprinkle blackberries over the top of the batter; distributing evenly. Sprinkle ¼ cup sugar over the top.
Bake in the oven at 350 degrees for 1 hour, or until golden and bubbly. If you desire, sprinkle an additional teaspoon of sugar over the cobbler 10 minutes before it’s done.

Happy New Year!

I hope everyone has a great year and "May all your troubles last as long as your New Year's resolutions." Joey Adams

Brayer class with Michelle Zindorf

On November 14th Lacey and I went to our favorite store in Nashville, IN (Papertrix) and took a stamping class. I had been following the work of Michelle Zindorf on her blog. She does great cards with a brayer. When I found out she was teaching a class in Indiana, I knew we had to attend. Her blog is http://zindorf.blogs.splitcoaststampers.com/ She does a great job of showing you step by step how to make her cards on her blog. Lacey and I had a great time at her class, and learned how to brayer without the harsh line. If you have a chance to take her class I would recommend it. Here are the cards we made at the class.
